About me
My name is Mukesh Adhikari and I am currently a Ph.D. student in Health Policy and Management at the University of North Carolina Gilling's School of Global Public Health. My minor is health economics. My research interests are: healthcare disparities among underserved and minority population, rural health, and application of advanced data analysis tools in health services research.
Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, I have worked in diverse roles within the government health system of Nepal, ranging from a paramedical worker in a primary health care facility to a Senior Public Health Officer in the Department of Health Services. During my tenure, I had first-hand experience of several tragic deaths associated with poor access to care and low quality of care with underlying socio-cultural and economic factors. These experiences incited me to further my career in public health.
I have always been keen to share my knowledge and skills with enthusiastic learners. For example, while working in Nepal's health sector, I taught thousands of students who are keen to enter into government health system. To date, more than 3000 students have successfully entered the government health system of Nepal. I feel really proud of my students as they are providing health care to those who need it most.
